Biography

Dr. Hossain is a Senior Research Fellow at the Oden Institute at the University of Texas at Austin. She directs an institute initiative that leverages advances in computational methods to further our understanding of vascular disease, and directly guide the conceptualization, development, and clinical evaluation of new therapies.  Her research portfolio includes multiple, interdisciplinary projects, developing non-invasive, mechanistic biomarkers for risk stratification in pediatric stroke and plaque vulnerability, as well as creating integrated platforms for validating models in glymphatic clearance and neurodegeneration.

Dr. Hossain is a mechanical engineer by training, specializing in computational fluid dynamics, patient-specific modeling, and cardiovascular biomechanics. She received her bachelor’s degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, master’s degree from Stanford University and Ph.D. degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Her research has been supported by the National Institute of Health, the National Science Foundation, The MD Anderson Foundation, The William and Ella Owens Medical Research Foundation, The William Stamp Farish Fund, UT-Austin Portugal CoLab, and Abbott Vascular Inc.
